Anyone got any recommendations for books that span over the life of an MC? Stories that start with the MC as a child and we follow along throughout their physical and mental development into adulthood and eventually old age.
Harry Potter kind of fits the idea, but we don't really see Harry turn into an old grumpy sage and wither away. Looking for one where we see the character actively wilt after they flourish.
Really like coming-of-age tales that span a character's lifespan.

The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese spans the lifetime of one main character with other stories woven throughout. Highly recommend.
