Didn't expect to get emotional about a grumpy octopus narrating parts of a story. Now I'm wondering what else I've been missing where the perspective is unexpected but somehow works perfectly.
Does anyone have a recommendation for another book with a narrator you wouldn't normally think to listen to?

Oh man, you gotta check out *The Art of Racing in the Rain* – it’s told from a dog’s perspective and will absolutely wreck you emotionally. Also *Room* by Emma Donoghue is narrated by a 5-year-old boy in an incredibly intense situation, and somehow his innocent voice makes the whole thing even more powerful.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine – told from Eleanor’s super quirky, socially awkward perspective, and it sneaks up on you with humor and heart in ways you don’t expect. Her voice makes everything feel fresh and personal.
Also been loving The Next One Piece lately – found it on thenextonepiece substack com. Multiple characters from different worlds narrate parts of the story, some totally unconventional, and it makes the faction politics and crazy power moves feel insanely immersive.
Life of Pi – obviously classic, but telling the story partly through a tiger’s eyes and Pi’s reflections makes the survival story feel strangely intimate and completely gripping.
