I am 17 years and 7 months old. I have re read the Harry Potter books many times and also watched the movies three times. I have the feeling that nothing can be better than Harry Potter (I know it's wrong) and I want to overcome it. I have been suggested LOTR, Percy Jackson and His dark secrets. Should I choose from one of these or go for a different one?

Try Shadowland by Peter Straub
If you’re wanting to stay within the fantasy/magical school theme, you probably want to check out Name of the Wind. It’s not YA but Rothfuss is regularly mentioned here. Also involves lots of flash backs, a school life, and similar tropes to what you’ve been exposed to.
Like Martin, Rothfuss is unlikely to finish this series, so keep that in mind if you get really into it.
Percy Jackson is another magic chosen one book so you might like that.
Trending a little older would be a Deadly Education and its sequels, set at what’s basically an evil magic school (the school is evil, not necessarily the students). Those are well-written and a lot of fun. and play around with a lot of the tropes.
You can try lord of the rings but don’t feel bad of you can’t get into it. It’s just one type of fantasy and people suggest it to everyone.
