I started my own physical coaching business a few months ago with my partner, and I had a burnout a bit more than a year ago ( in a different field ). It's been hard and I've lost all of my "hardworking skills", basically the discipline I had before if that makes sense. I usually hate reading, but if it's fascinating enough ( I usually enjoy non-fiction more ) or practical enough I can usually keep at it.
I'm looking for one or many books, preferably short and very practical ( as in, with actual tips that are applicable in real life ), to help me on my quest to be as efficient as I was before. I tried The Power of Habits, but found the examples to not have much transfer over my life, and it was kind of long and boring.
What would be your suggestions ?
Thanks

The Art of Learning, by Josh Waitzkin. It’s autobiographical, basically about being prepared for the unexpected.
Before reading it, watch the 1993 movie called Searching for Bobby Fischer, which is about Josh’s childhood as a chess prodigy.
f you want something practical and not overloaded with fluff, Atomic Habits is still probably the strongest recommendation because the advice is easy to apply immediately without needing to completely change your life first. Deep Work by Cal Newport is also useful if you feel like you’ve lost focus or discipline over time. Since you mentioned preferring shorter and more engaging reads, The Salesman and the Farmer by J. Logan Arnold could actually fit well too because it approaches mindset, consistency, and direction through a story rather than dense theory, so it’s easier to stay engaged while still reflecting on your habits and decision making.
The Will to Change by bell hooks could be the one you’re looking for.
Not really categorized as “self-help” but Tuesdays with Morrie might leave a lasting effect.
