Books I should read if I know almost nothing about the world? I am being very serious.

I’m 28, I grew up in a small country town and my family are all deadbeats, I had never been apart of any conversations that weren’t about whatever is sitting right infront of their eyes / gossip. I never really watched the news, I skipped school. I don’t need to know everything, but I’d like to know what most people know, but since I don’t know what I don’t know I don’t know what I’d search. Of course I’ve been an adult self learner but the things I’ve been interested in learning over the years aren’t something I can talk to the common person about, really. The one universal thing I’d say I’m educated in is philosophy, but I know nothing about politics, war, history, what else do normal people speak about? Oh, careers, business, most adult shit.
