Hi! Like the title says, I've got a big flight coming up and would love to have something to read to help the time pass. I haven't read much but was getting back into it recently. I read Game of Thrones beginning lockdown and got totally into it, though now I wouldn't remember many details if you asked me.

Other genres I like are fiction/ fantasy, usually I go for a female lead and also like to have romance subplots but not the main focus of the story? Love an enemies to lovers etc too.

I recently read Blood Trials by N.E Davenport which I got into, but I fizzled out in the second book by how overpowered the MC was. I also started reading "Calamity" by Constance Fay, but how perfect the love interest was and how he was just immediately so into the main character off the bat kind of annoyed me. Like I like a fantasy but I feel like guys aren't like that in real life and it felt too fake. But I digress

Anyway, if anyone has recommendations I'm all ears! Usually I would go for a longer series but since it's such a long flight I feel like arming myself with a few options might be the safest bet. TIA!

got some ideas for the flight! if you want something with good enemies to lovers tension try the poppy war series – gets pretty dark but the character development is solid and the romance builds naturally over time. for something lighter the ten thousand doors of january has really nice world building and the mc grows into her power instead of just being op from start

also maybe check out the priory of orange tree if you want standalone fantasy with dragons and multiple female povs. bit chunky but perfect for long flight since you wont need to worry about finding next book immediately. the romance stuff feels more realistic too compared to what you described with calamity
