I read so many fantastic books based on recommendations from this community, here are a few examples

    Where the Red Fern Grows

    Everything I Never Told You

    Bridge to Terabithia

    Sharp Objects

    A Little Life

    Never Let Me Go

    A Thousand Splendid Suns

    Flowers for Algernon

    The list goes on ….

You get the idea, a beautiful depression package, I'm now looking for something fun 😄 thank you!

    1. The token recommendation that I see everywhere for this is *The House in the Cerulean Sea* by TJ Klune.

For something more fun/funny and whimsical, I really enjoy the author Carl Hiaasen. Lighthearted mystery/crime type of books for the most part. *Bad Monkey* is a great place to start.

Lessons in chemistry, remarkably bright creatures, Gruncle, road to tender hearts, all creatures great and small, demon copperhead

    3. Eddie Winston is Looking for Love by Marianne Cronin. Elderly man has never been kissed, and a random meeting with a 20-something year old woman and sends him on a new adventure with a new friend to find love. Oh yeah, and a beloved pet also gets a love story.

The Monk and Robot books by Becky Chambers, Psalm for the Wild-Built and Prayer for the Crown-Shy. They will leave you feeling happier to be alive

‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ is a fun and laid-back option! 🐙

    6. If you want something uplifting after all of those emotional gut punches, The House in the Cerulean Sea is probably one of the safest recommendations, it’s warm, funny, and genuinely comforting without feeling shallow. A Psalm for the Wild-Built also has a very calming, hopeful vibe to it. For something more character driven and inspiring, The Last Stand of a Queen carries a lot of resilience and emotional strength without leaving you emotionally destroyed by the end, which makes it feel uplifting in a different way.
