I already know about The 5th Wave, but I’m looking for more books with that same vibe: humanity collapsing, people trying to survive, eerie atmosphere, abandoned cities, paranoia, maybe found-family or road trip elements.
YA or adult are both fine, btw

**Footfall**, by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle.
**Lucifer’s Hammer**, same authors.
**The Mote in God’s Eye**, same same.
**Puppet Masters**, by Robert Heinlein.
**War of the Worlds**, by H.G. Wells (not the movies, but the original novel)
All the Fiends of Hell by Adam Nevill has pretty much all what you requested, lol.
The Mercy of Gods, by James SA Corey (authors of The Expanse series). The second book, The Faith of Beasts, is recently released.
The Harvest by Robert Charles Wilson.
Operation bounce house… kind of.
The Stand, by Stephen King.
The Postman by David Brin isn’t alien invasion but it has other elements you mentioned.
Out of the Dark by David Weber is exactly what you describe to a point, although there’s also hope. It’s the first book of a trilogy or maybe more but 3 books so far.
It isn’t aliens, but A Matter Of Days by Amber Kizer is a fantastic YA post-apocalyptic found-family road trip book.
Dungeon Crawler Carl!
Gridlocked series. I read them all in only a few months. Favorite was The Grid Awakens, where cities are collapsing.
