I love historical fiction based in more ancient or Antiquated times especially if it’s tinged with art references or mythology. I feel like I’ve read everything at this point and would love some suggestions. Prose is important to me, I’m not a fan of the smutty retellings (neon gods, that darkness series)
I truly and deeply enjoy everything from Elodie Harper, Yangsze Choo, Costanza Casati, Madeleine Miller and Jamie Chang.
I’ve read all of Crystal King and enjoyed her first 3 books. Love the Poppy wars Trilogy as well as few books from Natalie Haynes, Stephanie Storey, Katharine Beutner, Pat Barker and Kaarina Parker. If I find an author I enjoy I’ll pretty much give all of their work a chance.

The Mask of Apollo, by Mary Renault
Her books are sort of love or hate em, but Pauline Gedge’s Egypt books. Child of the Morning was my favorite, I’d avoid the Twelth Transforming as a first read as it’s a bit weird and dated.
