It maybe sounds like a weird request, but there is something about the story of this 3 pieces of fiction that has a deep emotionnal impact with the characters. I just adore these stories, and I'm craving a book like that now.
I'm looking for a fiction book where characters are the center point, where vilains are so understandable you come to question if you shouldn't side with them, I want gut wrenching stories.
If possible, I would avoid too much SF, or light one, as I'm more leaning toward fantasy. I do like romance, I would prefer a book with, I don't mind a book without.

The first thing that came to mind is The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. Characters are really well done and the “villains” are pretty morally grey, you end up questioning everything. It gets dark tho, like really dark
