My friend has a terminal brain tumour (we don't know how long he's got , maybe 1-2 years with chemo and radiotherapy) and apart from spending time with his wife and two young children, one of the things he told me he wants to do is read books.
He already has a few on his mind but what are people's must-reads that could help me compile a list? He likes science, science fiction and philosophy. Probably more likely to read non-fiction than fiction but I want to add a couple of fiction books on there too for variety and some escapism for him.
I realise this is a difficult request but any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Dune, if he hasn’t read it already.
