Khaled Hosseini is the vibe I usually go for. The way he is able to write stories about children and target it at adults is exactly what I would like. But also, anything that is well written, really. Not looking for YA/children's. If it's about men of colour, even better. Starring teens/young adults is also a bonus (but again, not YA as a genre if that makes sense!)

*The Nickel Boys* by Colson Whitehead is largely about children/teenagers, but definitely written for adults and has a close male friendship at its center.
