Books that give off tropical + mysterious vibes

This is a weird mood I'll try to explain. I'm looking for a book that would take place on an island, but there happens mysterious, brutal and insane things. Basically I'm looking for a mindfck, kinda brutal book with tropical, summer vibes. If it helps, something like Battle Royale, The Beach or Lord of the flies. I've never read the books for them, but I'm looking for something similar, because I've seen the movies and enjoyed them.

Genres should include something things like mystery, thriller, sci-fi…but basically I just want some summer reading that keeps me interested.
