I am stuck, lost and a bit perplexed.

My four year old loves reading. He is my 3rd boy, all of which have enjoyed reading. So over the years I have a reasonable collection of boys books, however I have a problem.

My third loves to listen to longer stories, I.e Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the chocolate factory etc. He gets bored when I read to him short 5 – 10 minutes stories.

The balance I am trying to find is reading to him interesting, well written books (sub 175 pages) that will not be terrifying for a four year old.

Please can I have any recommendations of good, interesting books that people can remember from their childhood or when they have read to their kids?

    Thanks!

My 4 year old enjoys chapter books as well. We have liked the My Father’s Dragon trilogy, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, the Hotel Flamingo books, Magic Treehouse, and Zoey & Sassafrass.
