I'm 22 years old, and I haven't done much reading prior to turning 20. I've read some Thomas Pynchon but much of his stuff, historically and literaturely(new word?) goes completely over my head. I feel like I'm very far behind on the "classics", and I don't even know where to begin. Where should I begin? And does anyone have any good websites or resources that could guide me as well? I try goodreads but many of the lists on there include things like Harry Potter or Hunger Games which aren't really what I'm looking for.

Maybe dip your toe in with a short one. Of Mice and Men, The Old Man and the Sea, or The Great Gatsby

You could look at online syllabus for college courses. You can find them online and they usually have well-rounded classics and you can choose based on what area you’re interested in if u do that. For example American lit, British lit, pre-1800s lit, climate change lit (yes I had a class in this lol when I was in school) etc. pm anything you could think of you could find that way. I do this sometimes even though I’ve graduated because I like to see what they’re teaching now

At 22 I don’t think you are way behind on the “classics” you have your whole life to read classics. Start with one that seems interesting to you not one you feel like you should have read. I agree with the other post that you could start small. Or another idea is starting with children’s classics.
