    hey,
I´m looking for a book to read next. I´m pretty deep in literature (currently reading Anna Karenina), but since a long while, reading doesn´t feel like it´s changing my perspective or anything. It´s also harder for me to get abolutely absorbed into the story and emphasise. I realised that the books, which touched me the most were COA-Stories (The book Thief; IT; Percy Jackson; etc.), which makes sense considering my age. But most COA I find now are smut stories. And recommendations? Doesn´t necessary have to be a COA, but just someething that made you feel different and think: ,,That was something!"

I went through this exact same phase couple years ago where nothing was hitting like it used to. What really pulled me out was “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” – I know it sounds like typical book club pick but it genuinely made me think different about relationships and how we present ourselves to world. Also “Circe” was incredible for mythology retelling that doesn’t talk down to you like some YA does.

For something completely different direction, “Mexican Gothic” gave me chills in best way – it’s horror but literary horror, so you get that absorbed feeling without feeling like you’re reading something beneath your level. The atmosphere in that book is just *chef’s kiss*. Maybe try branching into different genres instead of sticking with classic literature for while? Sometimes we need palette cleanser to remember why we love reading.
