I don't sway anywhere politically, I'd say im not even on the chart.
But I don't have a fundamental understanding of all these political/big words . For example, but not limited to: patriarchy, right wing, left wing, religion, things to do with wars, history etc.
I do hope the tone is enjoyable, I do want to learn and i definitely won't even finish it if it reads like a textbook.

Jake Tapper wrote a book called “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again”.
He’s from the liberal side, but frankly the book is fairly neutral and direct. It’s really good and shows you how the power dynamics work even inside a party.
Reading the news and looking up unfamiliar words, events, people online (Wikipedia and online dictionaries are awesome), is how I do it. I look up stuff constantly lol.
I believe that understanding our history is essential to politics. A People’s History of the United States is a great book to learn about history that’s been whitewashed from textbooks.
1912: Wilson. Roosevelt, Taft and debs. Is a good one for a bit of a history lesson. The political parties that we have today are wildly different than a century ago. Most people have no clue why that is.
If looking for something US based, Team of Rivals is a great read and reads like a novel. If you haven’t read it yet, 1984 is a classic for a reason. I also really enjoyed Look Who’s Back (Er ist wieder da) by Timor Vernes for a great satirical but scary look at just how easily fascism can take hold.
Better Angels of Our Nature by Stephen Pinker will change your life
I love Mark Kurlanski. He is a US author, but his books are mostly about world altering ideas and commodities.
