On Writing by Stephen King and any of Straczynski’s books on writing did it for me.

First, read what inspires you to write. Devour your favorites.
Second, the Classics with a capital C. Read em. (They’re not all gonna strike you but give em a chance).
As for books on writing, I liked Stephen King’s “On Writing” and there’s a book on screenwriting called “Story”. It’s filled with great techniques and “show, don’t tell.”
