I have a small list of books that I'm interested in reading, but can't decide on which one to read next. Could you guys help me?
The list is:
Assassin's Apprentice – Robin Hobb
The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
A Song of Ice and Fire – George R.R. Martin
Between Two Fires – Christopher Buehlman
The Well of Ascension(book 2) – Brandon Sanderson
The Sword of Kaigen – M.L. Wang

Depends on your purpose, probably.
If you’re looking for a fun book to read, Assassin’s Apprentice. Hobb’s a good writer and the Farseer trilogy still stands up.
If you’ve got a short list of fantasy novels because you’re trying to “get into” the fantasy genre as a whole, so to speak, The Hobbit. Tolkien produced the high fantasy genre ur-texts with the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, so reading either of them does deepen your understanding of fantasy genre conventions as a whole. That helps you appreciate later fantasy texts more because you have more knowledge about what conventions they’re in conversation with.
