I’m comfortable with normal English and everyday vocabulary, but many advanced books still feel difficult because of uncommon words.

Looking for books that can help me naturally improve my vocabulary without being overwhelming. I prefer non fiction.

23 M for reference. Thank you.

try books about trades or practical skills – they use more advanced vocab but in context that makes sense. construction, mechanics, cooking techniques, that kind of stuff. the technical terms come up repeatedly so you pick them up naturally without feeling lost in fancy literary language that you’ll never use anyway.

also biographies of regular people doing interesting things tend to hit that sweet spot between everyday language and more sophisticated writting.

Oxford has a series of nonfiction books called “Very Short Introductions” on a huge variety of topics. These would be great.
