While I do have 11/22/1963 on my digital TBR, a criticism I've heard is the book doesn't go into many of the long-term consequences/outcomes.

I'm very interested in alternate presidential-based history timelines, anywhere from roughly 19th-20th century. I'm also open to other areas in the world such As Spain, Croatia, etc.

I appreciate authors who have solid understanding of history. I'm wanting to read historical fiction that isn't totally off-base.

The Plot against America by Philip Roth
What if Charles Lindbergh (Nazi sympathiser) ran for and won the presidency instead of FDR?

    2. Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America is about a timeline where Charles Lindbergh is the Republican nominee for President in 1940 and defeats FDR.

Harry Turtledove (“The Master of Alternate History” according to his fans) has written a bunch of alternate history novels involving a lot of alternate presidents, though your mileage may vary with him. His Southern Victory series has the Confederacy successfully seceding and becoming an independent nation, and runs all the way up through the 1940s. Lincoln is a disgraced one-term President and goes on to found the Socialist Party (not as far fetched as you might think).

And his Worldwar series also has alternate Presidents because of an alien invasion in the middle of WW2 (yes, really)
