Let’s be honest — I’m really not your typical guy who sits around reading, or someone you’d ever expect to see enjoying books. I never had the patience for it, never thought it was for me… but here I am, completely converted after finishing The Silent Patient.

This was actually the very first book I have ever finished in my life, and honestly? It blew me away. For the first time ever, I could actually picture every single character perfectly in my head, I felt like I was right there in the story, and I genuinely loved every second of it.

The best part was trying to solve it myself as I went along — I was guessing, putting clues together, trying to work out what really happened the whole way through. And that twist ending? I absolutely never saw it coming. Not even close. It completely caught me off guard and I couldn’t believe it when I found out.

Now I’m totally hooked and want more! I definitely want to stick to thrillers, psychological stuff, mysteries — maybe even something with a bit of spice or extra edge to it, I’m not sure yet.

    What do you recommend?

    1. Don’t try her just yet, but hold onto the name Tana French for when you’re feeling you want something more literary.

Meanwhile, Andy Weir may interest you. The Martian isn’t a mystery but leans into character and has a similar compelling push and pace to TSP.
