Looking for book (novel or story collection) recommendations with strong 1800s American frontier / Wild West atmosphere.
I’m especially interested in stories with:
– drifters, outlaws, prospectors, travelers, bounty hunters, etc.
– wandering from town to town/frontier camp to frontier camp
– saloons, isolated settlements, wagon trails, deserts, mountains, Gold Rush vibes
– folklore/campfire-story feeling
– dark humor, danger, memorable eccentric characters
– episodic “travel -> encounter -> move on” structure
-settlers vs indians battles
I’m less interested in pure romance/family sagas and more in frontier adventure, survival, outlaw energy, and strange encounters in the wilderness.
Can be classic Westerns, darker literary Westerns, or Gold Rush frontier stories.
I've already been recommended Louis L'Amour (The Empty Land), Blood Meridian and The Call of the Wind.
Im open to any suggestion you believe fits anything from my description.
Thanks!

Butcher’s Crossing. The Border Trilogy.
Lonesome Dove
“The Buffalo Hunter Hunter” by Stephen Graham Jones is the big breakout hit of last year that’s worth picking up if you haven’t already.
I’m a fan of “Upright Women Wanted” by Sarah Gailey as an alternative womens history variation.
