Hi everyone, i’m a first time poster here and I have a question about this book.

I always see it recommended and I decided to try it. I am 1/3 in (without giving spoilers, around where Sam Hamilton starts looking out after Adam) and I’m not completely in love with the book.

I enjoy the read but english is my third language and the slow burn of the story is weighing on me. I’m wondering if it gets better and I won’t regret finishing it or if I should move on to another book.

Being a fantasy and sci-fi fan, I’m really trying this genre since this book is so recommended whenever I see posts about “must-reads”.

    Thank you for your thoughts

    1. I loved the book from the first chapter personally so I might be a little biased. But if you’re already that far in, I would finish it. It’s one of those classics that stay with you. Even though it might be a slow burn for you, there are some really interesting parts later on that make it worth reading.

The first third of the book focuses heavily on world-building and character introductions. Once the twins (Aron and Caleb) grow up, the pacing speeds up dramatically

I recently read it as well. I would suggest you stick with it. More characters get introduced that I found really interesting and you get to see how their personalities and actions tie into others. It ended up being one of my favorite books

Reddit adores this book so I read it recently and man, I was so underwhelmed. Sometimes things just aren’t for you and it’s a long book so if you’re not enjoying it why bother? Life is short.
