I want to get back into reading as a college student, especially now that I have a cutesy Kindle. My favorites back in middle school and high school were the fantasy books that made you angsty at times but draw you into the world-building. For example, I loved a ton of books by Marissa Meyer.

Please give me some book suggestions that have a similar effect, and if possible, at a higher reading level/difficulty. The recs don't have to be fantasy; if you've had a book tug on your emotions hard in any way, please recommend!

    1. Terry Pratchetts Discworld books. Satirical, hopeful fantasy. Social commentary and justified rage hidden behind funny stories, puns and a cast of awesome characters. Guards, Guards, Wyrd Sisters or Mort are all good first books.

    2. The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Be warned, it’s dark but it will absolutely suck you in.
