What are your favorite historical fiction novels?
Preferably not based on religions (would enjoy a more Christian author if so)
I have really gotten into wars that aren’t talked about enough.
A little love story intertwined would be nice too!

Been diving deep into some lesser-known conflicts lately and found some absolute gems! The Crimean War period has some incredible stories that barely get touched in most history classes – there’s this whole world of medical advances and brutal winter conditions that makes for amazing backdrop. Also anything set during the Russo-Japanese War hits different because it’s like this forgotten turning point that changed everything 🔥
For the romance angle, I always appreciate when authors weave it in naturally without making it feel forced. Some of my best reads had these slow-burn relationships developing against backdrop of historical chaos. The research these authors do is insane too – you can tell when someone really dug into archives and personal letters to get the details right.
What specific time periods or regions you most curious about? Might have some more targeted suggestions based on that 😂
“The Women” by Kristin Hannah is a great historical fiction novel about female nurses serving during the Vietnam War. It ‘s really good.
