Looking for a book that explores either gay/straight friendships OR failed gay relationships

Putting genre as romance as I guess that's close enough.

Title says it all really. I'm interested that explores relationships between gay guys. I'm not really into traditional love stories though – I like complex relationships (and frankly love doomed relationships).

In a similar sense, I'm also interested in reading books about gay people with straight friends, since that's my experience and I'd like to see that perspective in a good book.

These two themes don't have to tie together though haha. And it can be a different genre if there's a book that suits, honestly just anything close enough would be great!
