Hello!
I recently finished Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell and the Adam Ewing chapters really stuck out to me. More specifically, when the ship briefly stops in Raiatea. This passage in particular:
"The Christ Guards gives any Black who set foot here now a hefty flogging. Or would do. The Native children don't even know the names of the old idols. It's all rats' nest & rubble now. That's what all beliefs turn to one day. Rats' nests & rubble."
This piqued my curiosity regarding the effects that colonialism and/or Christianization had on the pacific islands. Any suggestions on this topic would be most appreciated!

Stanap Strang, Sista!
It’s a compilation of short stories, poems and other things by female writers from Vanuatu. Really interesting and powerful.
Not totally bang on but you might enjoy the luminaries.
