I'm looking for a well-written novel where the main character is trying to make a decision between two lives. Ideally someone older (40s) where both outcomes are fine, but is very much overthinking everything. Something introspective while still entertaining.

been there with the overthinking spiral and sliding doors by helen fielding really nailed that whole “what if i chose differently” vibe. the main character is constantly weighing her options and you get to see both potential paths play out which scratches that exact itch youre describing
alternatively check out the midnight library – bit younger protagonist but same energy of exploring all the different lives you couldve lived when faced with major choices
