Looking for a book that can capture the imagination of an 11 year old boy who is into sports. His sports intrests are mostly in foodball and recently lacrosse.
I have tried fantasy/sci-fi stories (which is more my reading style) and no dice.
Are there any age appropriate books dealing with sports and age appropriate pre-teen issues?
Prob his 2 favorite books would be 4 eyes and Pizza Face.

It’s not sports, but try the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. Book one is called *Stormbreaker* and I absolutely ATE THAT SERIES UP when I was about his age.
I do not have a title to recommend, but have you considered looking into visual novels and comics?
If your pre teen doesn’t have an already established love of reading, maybe using a visual novel to bridge the gap between the hyper stimulation found in tv/film and arguably lesser stimulation in traditional reading might be a good place to start.
Jake Madsox writes a lot of sports-relatrd stories, literally every sport you could think of.
Kwame Alexander and Jason Reynolds both have sports stories. Alexander has some basketball books and Reynolds has books about runners.
Mike Lupica and Tim Green have books on baseball and football. Derek Jeter also has baseball books.
All these are middle-grade fiction, ages 8-12.
Babe & Me by Dan Gutman. It’s about a kid who time travels through a magical baseball card to the time on the card. It’s been years since I read it, but I remember enjoying it as a kid. The author has other books that are similar as well.
