Books with identity deception

I'm really drawn to narratives involving identity deception (if not outright theft) of some kind. Ideally it's a bit more subtle, something that happens over time and maybe without the deceiver even realizing it at first. I also prefer a more 'literary' style, so while thriller recs are welcome, I'd also love long, less shock-value focused recs (not saying all thrillers are short or shock-value, just outlining my preferences).

Some references:

– The Scapegoat by Du Maurier; slow but I loved it, and rlly appreciated the thematic depth it got to

– A real world event so it feels strange to include, but I was totally fascinated by the long-form article The Chameleon abt Frederic Bourdin in the New Yorker (and have read it multiple times)

I don't actually have that much reference, I guess, but I'm interested. I do want to read David Bergen's new book which features identity deception, but tbh, when I read the synopsis, I wished it was sapphic, so do with that what you will. If you actually know of a specific book abt a woman impersonating/slipping into the life of another who she is also attracted to, pls drop the name!!
