Books that are fun, but are enjoyed by people who don’t like fun books

I read a lot of feminist theory and I don't read much fiction. The fiction books I gravitate towards are excellent books, just not lighthearted (Outline, The Bell Jar, Joan Didion, Virginia Woolf, etc.). I'm not a big fan of fantasy or romance. I feel like the books that I see recommended fall into the categories of sad girl, romance, or fantasy. List off anything you can think of plss!!
