I’m looking for books to read with my kids (both under 9) that shows families of all different types but I don’t want that to be the point of the story, just a family doing family things.
Maybe some books where characters don’t follow stereotypical gender forms of dress would also be appreciated.
We have ‘Bathe the Cat’ by Alice B. McGinty and my kids love it, they giggle each time. The book is about a family of two dads and three kids (of different races) trying to get a list of chores done before grandma comes to visit. One of the chores is bathing the cat. The cat then messes with the list and everything turns to chaos. It’s funny and cute and the focus isn’t on the two dads or the kids, just a family trying to get stuff done.
I would love more books like this. My kids are still young and love books with colorful pictures.
