Hi! I'm looking for really scary books about poltergeist. I'd like to feel the creepy atmosphere when the characters hear sounds, footsteps, maybe whispers, see shadows, when the objects move on their own, all kinds of paranormal activity. I want it to be the main focus of the plot. I've read lots of horror books but none did this for me, it always feels not enough. I need the book that'll make me feel uncomfortable to be alone in the room

You might want to check out the author Darcy Coates. I’ve only read one book of hers, Gallows Hill. In Gallows Hill, a young woman returns to her childhood home at a vineyard/winery after her parents die, inheriting the property. The vineyard was once the site of a hanging tree where an unknown but very large number of executions took place, and it turns out that makes for a lot of ghosts! The haunting was definitely the main focus, a lot of paranormal activity going on, and a pretty tense atmosphere. She has a ton of other ghost-centric books, at least ten that I found with a quick scroll, so some of them might interest you!
