Hi guys I am looking for books where a tree or a plant is the main character. Ok if not the main one at least to play significant role in the book.
I loved the “The Hidden life of trees” and got obsessed with deciduous trees in particular.
It could be fiction or non-fiction but would love to have a story.
I also loved Elif Shafak’s book “The island of missing trees”, where a fig tree has a very important part in the storyline.
Thanks and trees are just amazing. Really amazing.

Hmm. Maybe North Woods by Daniel Mason? It’s not quite a character but the book spans several time periods in the same apple grove and the trees are central to the story.
*Arborescence* by Rhett Davis
Semiosis by Sue Burke
Maybe The Overstory by Richard Powers? Perhaps not exactly the same as you’re describing, but def very tree-centred.
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen features a sentient magical tree that throw apples at people. (And the apples show the person’s significant life event.) It’s in the magical realism genre.
