So I used to be a huge reader when I was a kid (I just turned 30). I would basically wake up and read some kind of fiction novel first thing in the morning before school while eating my breakfast. This was before streaming services became a thing, and I also didn't have access to a smartphone or my own computer, so books were really the purest form of entertainment that I had. But over time, TV shows, movies and other digital media took up more and more of my life until eventually I stopped reading entirely.
I recently realized I can't remember the last time I picked up a book and got really immersed in it, and while I love watching TV, a part of me yearns for the days when I could just get lost in a book for hours. I did try to read The Three Body Problem a few years ago, but I just couldn't get past the first few chapters because I found it so boring.
Does anyone have any fantasy/sci-fi recommendations that could reignite my love for reading? For context, some of my favorite series that I read and re-read countless times during my childhood were the Harry Potter books (of course), Percy Jackson, The Inheritance Cycle, Alex Rider series, Lorien Legacies and The Black Magician Trilogy to name a few. Obviously since I'm quite a bit older now, I'd probably lean towards more mature material, but I'm really open to anything. Looking forward to reading your suggestions!

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
If you like it, it’s also a series.
Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn trilogy and Stormlight Archives series for fantasy
Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown for sci fi
Lord of the Rings!!
The Hunger Games series was good. For something full of action and humour (sometimes adult humour) I found the Dungeon Crawler Carl series drew me in quite quickly. It is violent though (because he’s fighting his way through a dungeon), and rude at times.
Two books: Station 11 by Emily St. John and The Dog Star by Peter Heller. They are science fiction, but also poetic and deep.
How about ‘Dune’ and ‘Dune: Messiah’?
With the film adaptation of the second book coming out late this year now might be a good time to read the first two novels.
The Expanse series for sci-fi. The First Law series for fantasy.
