One of my New Year Resolution this year (and for the past 3 years tbh) is to make reading a habit. I used to be an avid reader but then the pandemic happened and social media got me completely in their clutches. Last year and the year before that I did read Hurricane Season and Flowers for Algernon which were both amazing books that I am glad I have read but definitely left me a bit too depressed which is maybe part of why I wasn’t able to read more book.
This time I am looking for older, more overlooked books that feel very of its time but don’t come off as too outdated. I generally enjoy slice-of-life and dramas. These two are not really “books” but I enjoy Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes. Film-wise, I love The Last Picture Show (1971), 3 Women (1971), The Watermelon Woman (1996), Trust (1990), EEAAO (2021) and Aftersun (2022). I haven’t watched much TV lately but I remembered enjoying My Mad Fat Diary and Golden Girls.
Thanks in advance 🙂
