As the title says. I’m new to reading. Most of my life I have only read academic books for my studies so I’m planning to get into reading something that not academic. I love post apocalyptic games so I figured maybe I might like post apocalyptic world stories.

A bit more serious and depressing would be The Road by Cormac McCarthy. A bit more action heavy and fantasy based would be World War Z by Max Brooks.

    2. Hugh Howey’s **Wool** is set very far after the apocalypse. It’s slow in the beginning and has incredibly detailed imagery. It is the first of a series but stands alone.

    3. Dies the Fire by S. M. Stirling.
Starts with a different apocalypse and follows 3 groups who survive in very different ways
