I am looking for audiobooks with great narration where they do voices and really bring the book to life.
I love fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian, cli-fi, queer historical fiction (everything queer tbh), new weird, and just bizarre stuff in general. Not really into contemporary, romance, mystery (I will do books with mystery but not primary genre).
I am ill and get bad bouts of brain fog and confusion so sometimes complex plots are hard for me to follow on audiobook.
I’ve been really enjoying Andy Serkis narration – I finished the hobbit and am partway through The Fellowship of the Rings, and plan to finish the LoTR and The Silmarilion with him. I also enjoyed listening to Gideon the Ninth. I’m enjoying Dune as well, though think the narration on that is not as good as the other two mentioned.
I’ve tried a few times to listen to Priory of the Orange Tree and haven’t been able to get my brain to click on it though I suspect I would like the book – it’s been too challenging for audio for me.
I do read some non-fiction but I’m picky so hit me up with some good ones that you think did well with audiobook and why and I will consider it. My last few non-fiction were by Brene Brown, about chronic illness, or ecology/biology based.
