Hi! I am here to compile a reading list for what is currently my favourite loose genre/style of literature. By this I mean books written from the perspective of women or as a social commentary of women in society in the context of the historical past, ideally older works, but they don’t have to necessarily be set in the time period in which they were written. Here are books I’ve written which I believe fit what I mean and what I’m essentially looking for, I think that’ll explain better

    -All of Jane Austen
-Agnes Grey, Jane Eyre and Villette by the Bröntes
    -Anna Karenina
-The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton (House of Mirth is also on my reading list)
    -Middlemarch

What are other books in this sort of style? I love an aspect of courtship, but it isn’t completely necessary. The society having strict social rules like Regency England, 1870s New York or the Russian Court is very much appreciated and I especially would like to read more books by Russian authors (this is the only Tolstoy I’ve read, and the only other Russian book I’ve read is The Master and Margarita)

    Any ideas? Thank you!
