I’ve unfortunately been so off my game with reading, I’ve DNF’d 3 books and only finished one this month 🫢 it was One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle and I did enjoy it, but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever read. It can only go up from here hopefully though!

Unfortunately, the two books I’ve read so far this month ended up being a 1 and a 2 star reads.
But I am about halfway through Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree and loving it. Unless something goes terribly awry, it’s shaping up to be a 5 star read for me.

Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, which was an excellent novel set in Montgomery Alabama in the 1970s, about the federal government forcing poor people, disabled people, and black and Latino people to be sterilized.
With the kids I enjoyed a re-read of When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead.

So far I have read 3,DNF’d 1. Of those three the best was Mistborn by Sanderson. It didn’t do anything radically different, but their writing was so mesmerizing I couldn’t put it down, I stayed up until I had finished it xD

As much as I love Thief of Time, I’m going to have to say Winter of the Witch. Or the Snow Queen, which I introduced to my son this month.

Finally started the Robert Hunter series by Chris Carter. Finished the first two so far. Not as good as the Charlie Parker series but solid dark, police procedurals.

I’ve only read one book so far this month – Titanium Noir. It’s not bad. It started off strong but I got tired of the writing style as it went on.
I’m now reading Cobalt Red (only a coincidence that they have the same name structure). It’s really well done and very informative.
