Sorry for the ambiguous title, but I really don’t have a better way to put it. I’ve been going through it recently, and I wanna start reading some fiction that will open up my mind a bit, to change up the mental scenery. Basically, I want some light fiction, not high fantasy or crazy sci fi, but more like something casual and lighthearted. Most notably, I want to read people. I want to see conversations between different types of people. Relationships, friendships, romances. I wanna see people invent stuff, deal with complicated issues, help each other, talk about things, and do things together. Basically I want to read something human. I liked the Hobbit, Arcane (I know it’s a show, I’m just using it as reference), Project Hail Mary, and recently read and liked Mark Manson’s “Subtle Art of Not Giving a F\*ck”. I’ve also read a lot of Dragonlance in the past, it’s a bit too heavy for me now but I did like the camaraderie and adventure. It could be fantasy, sci-fi, romance, high school, college, cars, whatever. I know this request is very unspecific, but I really don’t know what I want to read. I just know I need to read a book that will give me something else to think about, or I will probably go insane. Thanks!

The Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpentier. Although not similar to the Hobbit or Arcane, this book is VERY human, people-focused, with conflict, and a nice touch of magical realism.

I know people in this sub hate it, but Fourth Wing is a pretty easy read. It’s part of the “romantasy” genre.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is a good human focused book. I just read a book called the Heaven and Earth Grocery Store. It’s more of a historical fiction that is solely about people.
