As what the title says I need a book that has 300 pages or more and has a clear theme throughout the story for a book report I’m doing.
List of things I’m NOT looking for:
-Any romances. No romance amongst the main characters please.
-No fantasy/action heavy fantasy worlds. I want strictly modern setting so no mcs going on a conquest to fight bosses or anything.
-Any historical fiction
-Anything historical
-No topics relating to heavy abuse or SA
-Mystery elements
-700 page books
Things I’m looking for:
-stories with themes relating to interpersonal relationships
-characters 18 and up preferably
-Slice of life, coming of age type of stories

You’re looking for modern books? Does it need to be literary fiction?
[Martyr!](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/139400713), published in January, is an existential coming-of-age. It contains themes of death, LGBT, and is full of great poetry 352 pages.
Maybe [An Absolutely Remarkable Thing](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/54b4a771-12a6-43e9-91ca-37df8136266e) by Hank Green, or is that too much speculative fiction for you?

Maybe [The Blind Assassin](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/78433.The_Blind_Assassin) by Margaret Atwood? This book is about an old woman in the modern day writing her life story to pass on to her estranged granddaughter, so parts of it are basically historical fiction because it’s the main character writing about stuff that happened decades ago. But the book is greater than 300 pages though still relatively short, and shows a coming of age as well as interpersonal relationships. There’s no heavy abuse depicted, but there is an unhappy marriage and allusions to offscreen abuse.
