I would love to draw my hubs in and make him love reading like we all do. Pretty sure he hasn’t read a book since high school, but he has expressed interest in reading. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to get it right! It probably can’t be too long or difficult. He’s into fishing, skiing, surfing, boating. His favorite shows are Game of Thrones, (though I can’t see him reading anything with that much world building), Peaky Blinders and the Sopranos. He also loves a good true crime documentary. Hit me with your suggestions! Thanks in advance for your help!!

Whatever you choose, read it along with him and read to each other, talk about the book, etc. it will encourage him and show him the joy of reading and it can become a favorite joint activity.
Honestly I haven’t read it yet (it’s on my tbr and I have only ever heard glowing reviews) but maybe The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee would work! Its basically a fantasy about crime syndicates and a special jade that gives people magic, and about clan wars over said jade 🙂
The Martian by Andy Weir is a good one – easy to read, the character is instantly likable and fun, even while dealing with a really bad situation, and you don’t have to know anything about science or scifi to enjoy it. Maybe he’s already seen the movie but reading the book is fun anyway (and if he hasn’t seen it, it’s fun to watch the movie version afterward, too).
My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!
A nephew of mine is not big on books but has really gotten into audio versions so maybe give that a shot. Also, the people I know who do not like to eye read either have dyslexia or ADHD so maybe consider those possibilities and also consider that he is a wonderful man who doesn’t like to read. Not everyone does.
