looking for a political book

Im mainly interested in the two oppositions : democracy (wether it’s the early roman republic or more of a modern understanding of the term) and communism (the marx concept or anything) to kind of get into politics. I would be very grateful especially if it’s a fiction book. The only thing I look for is a real and easily understandable presentation of politics since Im wondering wether its worth it to study politics in uni or not.
