I just finished The Road Back by Erich Maria Remarque. It was an amazing book, so beautiful and haunting. There was so much about what life was like in Germany at that time that I found really interesting, historically and socially. I would love to read more books about the period of time between the two world wars and what life was like from a German perspective. It’s not a story we hear about often, not what the civilian life was like anyway. I would prefer a German author just because it would be a more intimate picture and not just focused on Hitler because that’s not what I’m interested in. I’ve done some Google searches but Google doesn’t quite understand the question.
