A good and engaging book on the discoveries of the European explorers.

I’d like to read up on the discoveries of European explorers. I am mainly interested in the discovery and exploration of the New World and the exploration of Africa. I like reading historical books with personas as anchors (as in this is the person and this is what he did), but that is not a requirement. Drop any suggestion, I am excited to hear them.
