Novels about obsessive vanity

After reading The Picture of Dorian Gray for the 3rd time, I really need some recommendations for novels about obsessive vanity. Looking for something from any period really, but I'm not looking for happy endings and the realisation of the importance of inner beauty etc, I want horror, body horror, existentialism.

I’d recommend [Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57876868-things-have-gotten-worse-since-we-last-spoke) by Eric LaRocca. Fair warning: it’s more of the ‘super gross’ kind of body horror and a lot of people don’t like it, but it does check off most of what you’re looking for, so maybe you’d enjoy it?
