Less obvious choices for people who enjoy gothic novels than the known picks? Eeriness, good writing, creepy women, and a “lurking” feeling

I feel like I know all the obvious ones, but what is maybe a hidden gem that may be less known or not classified as gothic but checks most of the boxes for what a good gothic book is like? The one element I might give up is the creepy women, I’ll settle for creepy men or children 🙁
