I'd like to read some books that fall into what some might call the "chick lit" subgenre. I'm a "chick" and I love to read and enjoy a lot of novels – but I've realized I've been avoiding this genre probably because of some unconscious internalized misogyny. So what's the best of the batch to start with?

I guess Cecilia Ahern’s books fall into this category. I read them in my teens and then spent years pretending I would never read books like that, but I recently found out that she wrote PS I love you when she was only 22, which is pretty awesome.
Another one that comes to mind is Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. (If you know the TV show, she has also written a bunch of other books). There is some of that typical Aussie irreverence to her style imo, she doesn’t take herself too seriously which I like when it comes to domestic drama.
Then there is This Must Be The Place by Maggie O’Farrell which is probably a bit more highbrow than classic “chick lit” but something about her writing style always strikes me as exclusively female (as in, you read it and can immediately tell the author is a woman) and it’s very beautiful.
